For Stanford’s ME 225, we were tasked with designing a product within a given design space and figuring out the logistics behind its manufacture and distribution. Our group came up with the Iceberg Lab, a self sufficient laboratory system capable of measuring and relaying relevant variables in marine studies. A brief overview our product strategy can be found below:

“Our company, Open Ocean Mesh, uses Sage 300 online ERP to manage the Iceberg Lab due to its affordability, remote hosting, customer service, and relevant functionality. Furthermore, based in Durham, North Carolina, Open Ocean Mesh focuses on instate suppliers to reduce shipping costs and allow for better oversight of quality control. Main assembly will take place on site at Open Ocean Mesh, with cycle times allowing 7 skilled workers to produce 1000 units a month. This ultimately leads to a unit cost of $218.05, with the Iceberg Lab retailing at $999.99.”
